In 2003 Granholm was elected Michigan's first female governor and won re-election in 2006 over right-wing "Amway" heir Dick DeVos. Her focus on families has meant expanded health care coverage for 300,000 uninsured Michiganians. Her Michigan First Health Care Plan will be the first in the state's history to extend universal access to affordable health care to every Michigan family.
And despite tough fiscal times for Michigan, Granholm has increased spending levels for Michigan's public schools to record levels. She has also championed universal access to higher education.

Why is it that the states can do these things, and the federal government cannot? Doesn't it prove that the people want and need healthcare?
I'm waiting for Ahhhhhhnold to veto this again.

Tengrain, I agree with Michael Moore who says if our government can find trillions of dollars for an unjust war, we can find money to provide everyone with healthcare.
I contributed to Granholm's campaign and from what I witnessed on Friday it was money well spent. Not to mention that I will be returning to DC with yet another "crush" ... yikes!! There are just so many fabulous women at this conference!!
