Fear of losing their customers (read dollars) will cause them to put pressure on the media outlet to drop controversial personalities ... like Michael Savage, and other right-wing nuts featured on WIND, a Chicago area radio station.
Driftglass has put together a comprehensive list of advertisers, complete with contact information. Driftglass writes:
This is more in the nature of an experiment based on the simple fact that for the last two decades, Right Wing liars in the media have been able to get away with spreading their evangelism of hate ... Advertising revenue is the life's blood of radio, and is what makes it possible for bottom-feeding moral CHUDs like Michael Weiner Savage to exist and enjoy a handsome living.
The question advertisers need to ask themselves is: "Do I want to promote garbage, or do I want to sell my product?"
Make them decide!
Make them decide!

"Michael Weiner Savage"
I didn't know that was his middle name! ; )
Like everything else, it needs a lot of people, and frankly, at least here and you know what I'm talking about, it would never happen, unless someone said something against their church in some related fashion! ; (
Hope all is (s)well! CM
This is well worth doing, but it does not always work. That is not to say one should not always keep at it.
Years in the media business but about to end have shown me that some advertisers either...
a) Do not care if you protest
b) Actually do want to support the blowhards
However, many of them will respond to the pressure. Not because they want to do the right thing.
Mostly just to sell product.
Good post and good link to Driftglass, who is great.
CM & Fran, if advertisers think it will cost them money, they will cave. While I was at NOW we were able to get the Florida Orange Juice growers to dump Rush Limbaugh as a spokes person.
I spent 15 years working in radio, television and advertising, and from my experience the ONLY way these folks pay attention is if they think it will have an impact on their bottom line.
