From Think Progress:Opening his radio show with funeral music yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson callously mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a "serious drug problem.”
Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, “I wish I knew how to quit you” from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, “We’re dead,” followed by his own, mocking “We’re dead” before playing the clip again.

This is no different from what Don Imus did, which resulted in Imus losing his job -- at least temporarily. Gibson should suffer the same consequences for his actions.
GLAAD has started a petition asking Fox News “why they continue to provide a platform for John Gibson’s cruel and tasteless comments.”

BAC - Fox News and John Gibson need to be hit where it hurts: In their bank accounts. Call for national boycotts of the show's sponsors. There's nothing that a nationally known company hates more than to have it's image associated with this kind of nonsense.
Just so you know, I signed the petition in the hopes that GLAAD will hit their advertisers. BAC, ya gotta hit them where it hurts the most.

A young man with a promising future and a two-year old daughter dies and Gibson laughs. What a sick bastard. I hope ever asshole who viewed sees his filthy face when they stare into the mirror.
That's disgusting. I'm would be with John on wishing I had watched so I could withdraw my support, but do not mean it. I do not wish I had been watching Fox News.
I agree with dcap- Murdoch could care less about petitions, but I did sign. Calling their sponsors is probably the best bet. Geez, I can't stand Fox News!

Sadly and I hate to be the cynic, I doubt that Faux will be silenced.
The problem is far more dynamic I am afraid... Faux Noise exists because there is an appetite for it.
Changing that is our real charge. And I know that we are all dedicated to that cause.
I often feel like we are reliving Rome before the fall. More and more I believe that we are.
