Obama wins Iowa

It was a big night for Democrats in Iowa tonight. The historic "RED" state, might be poised to turn "BLUE" next November! More than 200,000 people came out on the Democratic side to vote. That's up from approximately 124,000 who voted in 2004. What is also exciting about this is the youth vote that turned out. Young people came out in record numbers.

Congratulation to Obama on his victory tonight. His win gives us our first viable African American presidential candidate. For Edwards, it's a mixed result. Edwards has virtually lived in Iowa for the past four years, and doesn't have the resources of Obama and Clinton to move forward. New Hampshire will possibly be the defining moment for his campaign. Clinton will finish the night in third place. It's a loss, but she's got the money and organization to keep going.

The big story on the Republican side is the amazing finish by Mike Huckabee. He handed Mitt Romney his lunch. His win has got to be sending shock waves though much of the Republican party.

Shock waves is right. It's a classic Frankenstein's monster problem. The Republican establishment has encouraged and nurtured fundamentalist Christian political activism, and now they're finding that the thing they've created has a mind of its own and is too powerful for them to control.

Great news about Obama! It is really inspiring.

Infidel, interesting thought - you're right, it is a Frankenstein's monster for them.
