Reflection on a day

Profiles in Discourage

U.S. Commander in Iraq General David Petraeus (L) and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker listen to opening statements as they testify about the state of the war in Iraq before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington.

"WTF?" -- Sen. Clinton sums up the public's feelings on testimony given by Petraeus and Crocker.

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton attends the Senate Armed Services Committee's hearing on Iraq on Capitol Hill in Washington.

"What are the Dems talking about. John McCain won't keep us in Iraq a day longer than 99 years, 11 months and 30 days."

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is applauded at a Vets for Freedom rally on Capitol Hill in Washington April 8, 2008. Standing next to McCain is supporter, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT).

Clearly the surge is working ...

Residents rush wounded children to a hospital in the Shiite enclave of Sadr City in Baghdad.

Further evidence it's working.

An Army honor guards carries the casket of Staff Sgt. Christopher M. Hake, 26, of Enid, Okla. during funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Hake was killed by a roadside bomb in Baghdad on March 23.

I sat quietly, contemplating my life and the world around me ...
I decided to lie down.

And then I saw this ...

The dame in Spain walks mainly in the rain ...

A woman wearing a Sevillana dress walks across a road on the first day of the April Fair in Seville, Spain.

The End

John - true.

Sue - that is the picture that prompted me to do this, along with the first one. The caption I gave the two just popped out immediately. And yes, I'll be working on my Spanish as well! ;-)

The picture captioned "clearly the surge is working" is evidently a photo of children injured by explosions set off by muslim suicide bombers, who want to kill everyone they can.
