Don't agonize, organize ... that's my mantra. Change won't happen unless you work to make it happen! But sometimes even your best efforts don't provide the results you were looking for. Or sometimes a situation is just so completely outrageous that all you can do is say ... YIKES!
I missed too many of your posts to catch up, but I'm glad you put this up today. I'm so sick of all of this sexism and I'm sick of being accused of being racist for not following with the Obamabots.
If FL and MI is not permitted to have their votes count BEFORE June, this election will be illegitimate. Dean isn't fooling anyone, he's doing this for one reason only, to make it look like Obama is further ahead in the popular vote.
Not to mention, Obama DID advertise in FL and I'm so sick of that being ignored. I just read on another site that Obama is the only one "playing fair" in this race. What.is.wrong.with.the.Obamabots????
It's interesting the attack on Senator Clinton caused me to examine her records more clearly and the more I saw the more I appreciated she was being lied about flagrantly on many issues by the media and so called progressive blogger. And the more I examine her actual record the more I liked her.
Obama I started off interested in, but all the hyped claims I saw caused me to investigate him more carefully. And the more I looked at his actual record the less I liked him.
Funny how the media memes and portrayal appear so dramatically different from what you find if you actual look beyond them.
MWB - I'm glad you have taken the time to investigate for yourself, because we are truly lacking in investigative journalism in this country -- and I find that very sad.
I was in Chicago last year at the Blog Her conference, and had dinner with a feminist friend. We were talkinga about ALL the Democratic candidates, because at that time they were still all in the race. I remember telling her that I had problems (or at least A problem) with all the candidates running, and that since there was no "perfect" candidate in my opinion I was going to support Sen. Clinton. Her response was "seems reasonable to me."
I'm not happy that Sen. Clinton voted the way she did on the Iraq vote, but that cannot be changed. For her to say "I supported it, before I was against it" didn't seem like a viable option to me either -- given what happened to Sen. Kerry. At this point, I think we need to be more forward looking and decide who will most likely bring our troops home. The answer to that for me is Sen. Clinton.
We know McCain has no interest in bringing troops home, and Obama has hinted that he might decide on a different strategy if he is elected. Clinton is the only one of the current three contenders who is even asking the Pentagon for a withdrawl plan.
And don't get me started on the difference between Obama and Clinton on LGBT civil rights. Clinton, again while not perfect, at least meets with gay groups and takes part in gay events. Obama won't talk to the gay press, and will only meet with gay people in private -- TO TAKE OUR MONEY -- while she shares a stage with homophobic bigots. THAT doen't make me comfortable with him at all. But that's another post!
BAC - Significantly exaggerated attacks or praise trip my BS detector as a rule and more often than not rightly so.
I didn't agree with the Iraq vote either (I was one of the pesky "focus group" members marching in the streets.)
But what bothered me more was how folks treated Kerry in '04 who voted the same way. A number of progressives argued that the fact he voted for it made him a stronger candidate against the Republicans. While, instead for Clinton, it is labeled as "her" war and as hurting her in the general.
Jeepers apparently she had such total power that the votes her colleagues in Congress and the President's actions didn't matter.

Mary Ellen - I know.
