Why the Race Must Go On

The friends and family I have spoken with in Indiana are thrilled at the opportunity to have a real voice in selecting the Democratic nominee. And I would think voters in the other remaining states feel much the same, and that is why this process must be allowed to continue.

WRTV 6NEWS in Indianapolis* reports that Sen. Hillary Clinton now has a 10-point lead over Sen. Barack Obama.

The survey, conducted by Indianapolis-based TeleResearch Corp. and released exclusively to 6News, showed Clinton with a 10-point lead over Obama in Indiana -- 48 percent to 38 percent -- with 14 percent of respondents undecided. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percent.
And there are other indicators that this contest is far from over.

A look at the Electoral Map clearly indicates that Sen. Clinton would be a much stronger general election candidate than would Sen. Obama. The Obama - McCain Electoral Map shows Obama at 243 and McCain at 269, with 26 states where the two are tied. The Clinton - McCain Electoral Map shows Clinton at 291and McCain at 247. 270 Electoral votes are needed to win.

And finally, before superdelegates make their decision I would suggest they take a look at this.

Obama lead over Clinton Disappears
Indiana Poll Shows Clinton with Big Lead over Obama
Gallup Daily: Clinton 49%, Obama 45%

*My first job out of college was with WRTV 6 in Indianapolis.

On an only slightly related note, I have actually been to WRTV if my memory serves me correctly.

Was that station owned by Meriden B'casting?

Possibly, as I can't remember who owned it when I first started working there. The station is located on Meridian Street, maybe that is what you are remembering. McGraw-Hill purchased the station soon after I started working there, and still owns it today.

On another note, I worked at WRTV, David Letterman worked at the station across the street, WTHR ... and Jane Pauley worked down the street at WISH TV.

Gee ... maybe I should have been an on-air personality??? ha

You could've been one of those gadfly types who becomes a regular on all the shows! You would've been rolling in the dough!

I'm encouraged by how soundly Hillary would beat McCain. Let's just hope she beats Obama. We gotta turn this thing around.

I think that is the one and my clouded brain just got my meridians wrong!!

How funny is that. I visited there in 1989, my only trip to Indy ever!
