National Conference for Media Reform

The Minneapolis Convention Center is the site of the 2008 National Conference for Media Reform. I'm not sure how many people are registered, but it certainly looks like a lot!

The organization I work for has a table in the exhibitor hall, and I had a few challenges this morning as my material arrived a day late. It was supposed to be here last night, but didn't quite make it, so I only spent about half a day today at the conference.

A number of really nice people stopped by the table. Some were members of the organization and wanted to say hello, others just walked over to thank me for being there. It's gratifying to know how much people really do appreciate us.

I'm hoping to get to a few workshops tomorrow, so should have more to report.

A friend who lives in St. Paul came over and met me for dinner. We ended up at a Code Pink event first, which was quite fun. As we walked to the event I saw another friend from DC, who is in Minneapolis attending a different conference. It's such a small world sometimes!

This is a very informative blog – one of the best of its kind. I have gone through all the posts but I have some doubts about some thing. Updates of this blogs are rare. Since blog needs latest info, I humly request the blog master to update this blog when ever gets time.
All other aspects are really Great. I have some own blogs in this subject – on malignancy and malignant cancers or tumors - I shall link this blog from them. I think this blog needs that as this is very informative.
And about complete cure of Cancers and malignant tumors I was simply wondering why common men like me and you can work for this/in this direction? It may be scientist’s subject, but I think we too can provide good contribution to this subject... I could see an informative guide on malignant cancers and the cure of cancer etc from following URL
http://www.helpcure.com/cancer
This site will give you a free cancer- guide which details how to cure cancers by Holistic Treatment – Only useful treatment to cure cancer completely- and also on how to care cancer as well as much information about the cancers

Hmmm. I've heard of this so I was checking the panels and this caught my eye:

"9:30 a.m.- 11 a.m. Panels and Workshops (descriptions begin on page 24)

Coverage of Race and Gender in the 2008 Campaign

In the historic 2008 presidential election, media coverage of Sens. Barack Obama
and Hillary Rodham Clinton has put issues of race and gender front and center.
Has coverage of these issues elevated public discourse in the United States —
or created greater divisions? How will the media’s role in framing these issues
resonate after November?"

I'd be intrigued to see how this goes to say the least. Given what happened this year, I'd like to have seen this as two separate panels.

Any chance you are catching/caught it?

Angelina - Welcome, and I agree we need to do more to eradicate cancer. Having lost both my parents to cancer it's something I care deeply about.

Dcap - excellent idea. I had dinner tonight with a fellow blogger, Dr. Spocko, who is doing his part to get hate-filled radio talkers off the radio in San Francisco. He's been threatened by some major corps, but he just keeps on plugging away at them. Very impressive.

MWB - I'm here for work, so I haven't had a chance to see everything I wanted to see. I did manage to hear about 45 minutes of this presentation. It was very good, but -- and please don't anyone jump on me -- the portion I got to see dealt more with issues of racism than of sexism. But that could have been because I joined the workshop late.

Laura Flanders, whom I love, made a great comment when she said "I wish Clinton had said 'if you are voting for me because I'm white I don't want your vote' and that Obama should have said 'if you are voting for me because I'm a man I don't want your vote' " ... she said it much better than I just did here.

The evening session was excellent! I'm just too tired to blog about it tonight.
