Is anyone besides me tired of hearing McCain operatives talk about Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine being on Obama's "short list" and how Gov. Sarah Palin has as much experience as Kaine? The quick response to that should be: "Obama didn't select Kaine."
I thought Gov. Kaine did an excellent job on Real Time with Bill Maher last night. I haven't been all that impressed with him in the past, but this appearance is making me rethink that. I still don't agree with some of his positions, but he hit all the right notes in this interview!

Oh BAC, thank you so much for putting this video up, I had not seen it and might not have.
I have had decidedly mixed feelings about Tim Kaine. I did see him speak the other night at the convention and I thought "not bad." I liked him more than I had in the past.
This was another opportunity to see him in a new light and he has my attention.
I am realistic enough to know that not everyone will hold all the positions that I do- Obama himself is an example of that! However, when I start to see people of substance act, it does cause me to re-examine how I assess politicians.
Plus he was funny without trying too hard - that is a good one.
Tonight I heard on NPR that Palin only (how Bush-ian) got her passport in the last year.
And all this business of McCain just reaching out to her and not knowing her... What is that about?
I actually made the looking into Putin's soul joke in a comment elsewhere, similar to what Kaine said here.
It is curious though- to select someone with so little experience and without much real knowledge of her.
Go figure.
Thanks for this great post and your wisdom, always.
