Don't agonize, organize ... that's my mantra. Change won't happen unless you work to make it happen! But sometimes even your best efforts don't provide the results you were looking for. Or sometimes a situation is just so completely outrageous that all you can do is say ... YIKES!
As a liberal, progressive Roman Catholic, I can only say that the Al Smith dinner bugs the living crap out of me, this years perhaps more than others.
I do not like to see the two candidates in their white tux and tie on either side of Cardinal Egan in his red finery.
The Cardinal is disingenuous at best. He refused to invite John Kerry in 2004. He invited Obama because he knew that it would mean money.
The dinner, which is for the benefit of Catholic Charities, was apparently a fund raising success.
I am very grateful to live in an RC diocese that is not draconian in advising Catholics how to vote. After spending most of my Catholic life in the NY Archdiocese, I can tell you that this is a new and different experience.
I only watched a little of the videos which were posted on a Catholic website. They both disturbed me.

I wonder how others saw them?
