SOTU: Feel the love

Got a little distracted earlier, as I had intended to post this instead of my Britney rant.

When I saw Rep. Chris Shays (R-CT) give Bush a little peck on the cheek I thought "how nice that men finally feel comfortable with PDA." And what is it about CT men and kissing? Hasn't Liberman kissed Bush as well? Yikes!

Petulant, at Shakesville, has a fun take on MAN LOVE.

As a MAN of latino descent, this kind of man love is not only normal but expected. I kiss my father hello and goodbye all the time and I can't remember a time where I didn't "hug it out" with one of my brothers when I saw one of them. If you ask me, only people too insecure in their own sexuality see two males pecking each other on the cheek as something other than what it is -- a genuine gesture of affection.

However, if they held the embrace and decided to lock lips and twirl tongues... now that's another story altogether.

Not all latinos do the hugging thing--my family has only recently started that kind of thing, and I'm 43 with 70+ year old parents. It's nice!

I think it's funny to see the people in the background--that blonde woman and--is that McConnell?--giggling like schoolkids. WTF?

I saw it live on television. It got mention by the pundits covering the walk-in.

I think it looks like Shays wants to see what Bush's Dr. Pepper LipSmacker tastes like, but missed.

Spartacus - I agree about the insecurity thing.

Dguzman - the people in the background did look a little silly.

DCup - ... and is he ever upset!
