The United States Constitution never uses the word "God" or makes mention of any religion, drawing its sole authority from "We the People." However, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee thinks it's time to put an end to that.If you support separation of church and state that answer would certainly be "yes."
"I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution," Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. "But I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that's what we need to do -- to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards so it lines up with some contemporary view."

Don't worry, this guy will never be president.
I agree, and this is probably why!

I wish I had the same certainty... I think he could end up there, as unlikely as it is, it is not impossible.
Or he could be somebody's choice for VP, which is only slightly less scary.
I don't want to be all fearful and tin foil hat, but this talk of his scares the crap out of me.
The worse things get in this country, the more folks will turn to that kind of "fear based" approach to religion.
So I never completely count Huck out. And I will work like hell to keep him out!
He might manage to carry Idaho -- if they let potatoes vote.
The VP possibility is scary, though.
All the more reason to keep Democrats united to make sure that the Democratic candidate, whoever it is, wins.
I'm in Fran's camp - I don't really think the Republicans have much of a chance in a general election, but I attempt to never underestimate the power of large numbers of deluded people, especially after 2004.
More worrying to me than just that a potential future president of the US could get away with saying something like this without losing that possibility is the fact that there is a large contingent of people on the right (and even some in the center) who require this sort of thing.
It is frightening.
